Willow Jensen

Our little girl, Willow, arrived on Thursday Sept. 2nd at 4:47 pm.  She was 8lb 6oz and 21in long.  I went to my 40 week appointment at 11:30 am and told my doctor I was just done, so she checked me, I was at a 4+ and told me I could just head downstairs to labor and delivery.  I was really surprised.  I had fantasized that it would work out that way, but never actually thought it would.  So I checked in around 1:30 pm and they got me all hooked up and ready.  They called the anesthesiologist and he gave me an epidural, shortly after my doctor came in and broke my water.  It was at this point I was realizing my epidural was not working.  The contractions were coming very strong and close together and I could feel every bit of pain.  The anesthesiologist came back in very quickly and hurried to fix the problem.  I was in a lot of pain curled up on my side, trying to hold still so he could get it right.  I had to have a little pitocin when I arrived and it was making me shake uncontrollably.  They eventually made me put an oxygen mask on, which made me feel like I couldn't breath.  He finally got the epidural working, and while he was working I had fully dilated and effaced.  Thankfully I was finally comfortable, and they turned off the pitocin so I wasn't shaking as bad.  My doctor came back down, and 9 pushes and 17 minutes later, Willow was here.  It was a lot different then my experience with Saylor, but it ended with the same awesome result.  A beautiful little girl, with a sweet little spirit to add to our little family.  So far I don't see any of the colic tendencies that Saylor had, so I am hopeful.  She doesn't cry much, even when they first laid her on me, I wondered if the little squeals were all we were going to get.  Saylor is in love with her, and calls her "her Willow", "baby Willow",  or "my sister".  She woke up this morning running around upstairs, I told her I was downstairs and she said she was looking for Willow not me.  I was a little hurt, but happy that she is so in love!
